In Memory of Everett E. Johnston
The Ash tree pictured above was donated by the Chaisson family and planted in memory of Cylinda Chaisson's grandfather Everett E. Johnston. Everett E. Johnston was a lifelong citizen of Newark, lifelong member of the Church of Christ and donated time and help with the Newark Volunteer Fire Department. He also was an author of several books on the history of Newark.

The park pictured above is located on the corner of Hudson & McCanne, directly across from the Newark Fire Hall and Community Center.

Boaters enjoy fishing ant South Wise County Park
Newark is located on the North end of Eagle Mountain Lake.
For those who like fishing, South Wise County Park is located just West of the City on Country Road 4873. The park has a public boat ramp, picnic tables, and lots of shore for bank fishing. Future plans include restrooms.
