Newark, Texas Parks & Recreation

Newark Town Square Park is centrally located at 209 Hudson St. It offers a wooden playset donated by local Girl Scout, Megan Beckenworth.

The ash tree pictured below (right) was donated by the Chaisson family and planted at the Newark Town Square Park in memory of Cylinda Chaisson's grandfather, Everett E. Johnston. Johnston was a lifelong citizen of Newark and member of the Church of Christ.  He donated time to the Newark Volunteer Fire Department and was the author of several books written about the history of Newark. Delora Doughty Royal Park, located at the corner of McCanne & Central Ave was graciously donated by Mrs. Royal's family for the use as a city park. It offers a covered gazebo, open green space and free standing Bar-B-Q grill. Bring the kids and enjoy a sunny Texas afternoon.

For those who enjoy fishing, kayaking, canoeing and picnicking South Wise County Park is located just West of the City on Country Road 4873. The park has a public boat ramp, picnic tables, and lots of shore line for bank fishing.
