residential new build / remodel

what you need to complete the permit process


Please apply for your new build or remodel permit using the information below. 

  

Ensure you have all of the following items as applicable to submit for a new build or remodel permit. 


   You will need to upload the following documents with your permit application:

  1.  Application (HERE)
  2.  Site Plans (cannot be drawn) 
  3.  Legal Description (lot, block, subdivision) 

                   - North arrow and scale 

                   - Property lines and lot dimensions 

                   - All easements 

                   - Proposed structure and all existing buildings 

                   - Driveways and sidewalk dimensions 

                   - Existing and proposed location of utility poles, pad mounted transformers 

                   - Setbacks for front, rear and sides of house must be shown on site plan 

          4. (2) sets of house plans to include floor plan, exterior elevations, roof design, mechanical design, electrical design, plumbing design, construction details, window/door schedule, masonry on wood details, sheer wall details. Must include one set of digital plans. 

          5. Engineered Foundation Plans (cannot be drawn) conventional rebar slab foundation, regionally accepted practices, foundation detail (Reference IRC 2021) or Engineered plans or post tension foundation – engineered foundation plans and letter. Engineered plans must state that the foundation was designed for the soil conditions on that particular lot and that the foundation meets the design criteria of the IRC 

         6. Residential Energy Code Compliance Document (www.energycodes.gov)

         7. Driveway approaches and drainage culverts (engineered plans – driveways accessing State Highways requite TXDOT permit) 


You will upload all of the above documents after completing the registration on the permit portal as described to the right.

Please note that this is a general list of what inspections these projects generally require, however some permits may require additional inspections. As always, re-inspections will require additional fees.
